Nick Copper

Associate - Criminal/Intake/Client Relations

Attorney Nick Copper has joined Maronick Law LLC following a long tenure of legal, legislative, and lobbying work in and around Maryland State government. Most recently, Nick served as the lead budgetary consultant at premier Annapolis-based lobbying firm Evans and Associates, LLC. While working at Evans and Associates, Nick lent his budget expertise to such high-profile clients as Verizon, the Prince George’s County Council, and the Maryland Transportation Builders and Materials Association. For two sessions of the Maryland General Assembly, Nick lobbied on behalf of his clients not only for increased funding in key areas of the Maryland state budget, but also for policy initiatives of importance across all aspects of Maryland state law.

Before joining the Annapolis lobbying corps, Nick spent most of the Hogan-Rutherford Administration as the Deputy Chief of Staff within one of the most important State agencies, the Department of Budget and Management. Hand-selected by then-Secretary Brinkley to join the Department, Nick supervised the production of the annual budget books featuring the details of the State budget proposal Governor Hogan submitted every year in office. He also served as the agency’s public relations director and public information officer, spending six years honing the very communications skills that he now employed at Maronick Law in service of keeping the firm’s clients calm, comfortable, and content.

Nick is also proud to have attended Loyola Blakefield High School, the same alma mater as Senior Partner Tom Maronick. Nick has consistently maintained throughout his life that the education he received there—academic, personal, and spiritual—is the primary driver behind who he is today. Thanks to Loyola, Nick was able to graduate from college in three years, finish law school a semester early, and excel in whatever professional environment he has found himself, now including Maronick Law.

Nick lives with his wife of five years, their two children, and their beloved cat in Baltimore County. Nick fancies himself a unique type of creature in today’s world—able to debate the virtues of the Orioles lineup and the faults of the Ravens receiving corps with just as much passion as he can the most recent comic book movie or Star Wars television series. Nick and his wife, a special needs educator, can occasionally be found attempting to make people laugh as two of the members of Drop Three, a Baltimore-based comedy/improv troupe, currently in residence at Fells Point Corner Theatre.
